Do you sweep your floors a million times a day? I know I do! Crumbs, pencil shavings, paper scraps, small pieces of play-doh, rice from the sensory bin, etc. Some days I feel like all I do is clean! So I broke down and bought myself a cordless vacuum a couple months ago to help me out on this chore. Keep reading to see why I LOVE it!

The Most Wonderful Sweeper for Preschool Teachers
So here is the sweeper I have:
It’s nothing ridiculously fancy. But I wanted one that I didn’t need to wind up a cord every time I used it, and one that I could store conveniently.
Here’s what I’ve found after using this sucker – pun intended – for a couple years now (yes, years and it still works!).
- It picks up EVERYTHING I’ve used as sensory material
- Easy to empty
- Holds a charge well, I charge it once or twice a week I think. And I use it multiple times per day.
- I can use it one handed, holding an infant on my hip. That’s hard with a broom!
- Even the three year olds can use it completely independently, so they can clean their own messes!
Easily Clean Up Sensory Material
My favorite thing has to be that it picks up dry rice! My kids love rice in the sensory bin, and I leave the sensory bin open all the time.
But rice is the worst at getting tracked through the house. I find it in the living room, bathroom, kitchen – you name it. But this little guy grabs it right up and it’s seriously my new BFF.
It also cleans up regular dirt, cat litter, dog food…seriously it’s amazing!
Quick and Effective Means You Can Use It Often
I run this thing so many times a day, I can’t even keep track. But it’s amazing because in just a few minutes I can clean up play-doh crumbs, dirt in the mud room, and my messy kitchen floor. Love it!
I have noticed that it doesn’t seem to pick up well on the pull back. So when I’m trying to clean up something specific, like rice, I make sure to push toward the mess, and not bring the sweeper back over it.
It also switches between hard floor and carpet very easily, which is so nice for the rugs in our playroom.
The Kids Can Use It
If they’re big enough to make the mess, they’re big enough to help clean it up! My three year old can tip the handle back, turn it on, and run it like a pro. And it’s fun, so they’re always willing to help!
Cordless, Baby!
I guess this laziness on my part, but I hate dragging out my big sweeper. Unwinding the cord, winding it up when I’m done, changing the attachments to switch between floor and carpet. And then it’s heavier to drag around, too. Okay, yeah, that sounds like laziness.
But seriously, who has time to do that all day long when you have so many little kids running around?! Not me! Thankfully most of my space is hard floor and I can get most of my dirt with a broom. But, then I was still sweeping all day long.
This sweeper is just so much faster. Like I said, I can literally use it one handed. Or the kids will volunteer to clean the floor when it’s dirty. 10x faster than the broom. And fun even for grown ups! 🙂
You Won’t Be Sorry
I’m not even kidding that I’m just so happy with this sweeper that I had to share it with you! I am sure if you have a group of kids anywhere from birth to 5 years old, that you have just as many messes as me. This thing has been a lifesaver! I wish I had bought it years ago.
Plus, it’s a Shark. My regular vacuum is a Shark too, and so is my floor steamer (which I also love). I guess I have a favorite brand now!
Hopefully if you’re looking for a new sweeper or way to cut down on all the sweeping during the day, this post has been helpful for you!
I literally love this thing so much that when I took a job teaching outside my home, I took it with me. Then I bought another one because I missed having it at home so badly! It’s just soooo convenient!
And when I broke the charger by slamming it in my desk drawer, I ordered another charger instead of a new sweeper. I have also snagged them on sale for friends because they know how much I love this awesome little sweeper!
