How this Free Bulletin Board Header Can Increase Focus
Limit Decorations to Increase Student Focus
Did you know that most of your decor should be useful or student created?
Teacher created or purchased materials that are just for decoration can actually be visually distracting and hinder your students’ focus.
Posters and displays are fine if you regularly refer to them throughout the day or week. But posters for the sake of taking up wall space are actually “visual noise” and fight for attention in the brain. This makes focusing on tasks or new skills more difficult than working in a classroom with bare walls or limited decor.
Display Student Work to Foster Confidence
Every classroom needs a place to display students’ work!
Giving a home to the work children have created show them that you value their efforts. It also helps them to feel at home in your classroom and gives them a sense of belonging.
Remember, the best place to display student work is at their eye level. It’s also a good idea to keep the display up to date with recent work, and make sure to include everyone so no one is left out.
Free Bulletin Board Banner
Here’s where I display my students’ art work! Since I don’t have a large bulletin board (or room for one), I use a window.
All I did was print the bunting, laminate, and cut it out. The rainbow colors even match the rest of my classroom decor, like my Preschool Focus Wall.
The artist girl pictures came from a clip art pack I purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers. You can download them here, or try to find some free ones on Teachers Pay Teachers if you want a picture to go with your banner.
