The preschool science activities in this notebook are some of my FAVORITE resources to use! I literally use a page of it every week to review our science lesson. And these preschool science activities are easy enough for preschoolers and kindergarteners. Check it out!
Preschool Science Activities
Have It Your Way
You can use these preschool science activities a few different ways. The pack comes with color images, or you can use the black and white images so the students can color the pictures themselves.
You can use this download to create:
- classroom posters
- cumulative spiral notebooks
- single page classwork using construction paper
- laminated science center activities
Tips for Using this Notebook with Preschoolers
Most interactive notebooks have fancy flaps and require writing. That’s awesome and all, but just not practical for preschool and kindergarten! Most of these kiddos are still learning how to use scissors and glue.
That’s what makes this notebook perfect for them. All they have to do is cut and glue! So they get great fine motor and scissor skill practice as they review their science concepts.
The simplicity of the construction lets them use their focus to sort the images instead of figuring out which lines they can or can’t cut (trust me, most of them WILL cut the wrong lines and those cool flip flaps won’t work anyway – I’ve tried it.)
Here’s what I’ve found works best when using this notebook with a preschool group.
- Pass out the notebook pages.
- Instruct students to cut apart the worksheet along each line.
- When cutting is almost complete, pass out spiral notebooks.
- Have students find one of headings. Hold up your notebook to show them where to glue the heading, so everyone glues the same heading onto the same page. Do the next heading together, as well.
- Until your group is ready to work independently (many of my boys rush and don’t sort their pictures), work as a group. Call out one image at a time, wait for the class to find it, ask the class which side it belongs on, and everyone can glue at the same time.
- When finished, students can color the images in their notebooks or work at centers.
Let’s Talk Early Learning Standards
I designed this notebook with my Early Learning Standards by my side. Literally, on the table sofa next to my computer. My goal was to have a resource that I can just print out each week and cover a new standard.
So that means that this resource can be used to meet 30 science standards!

Science Interactive Notebook for Preschool and Kindergarten
$6.00
This interactive notebook is designed with preschool and kindergarten skill sets in mind. These printables include a variety of topics from biology, physical sciences, earth and space sciences, and environmental science. A total of 31 different notebook pages are in this pack!
Description
This bundle is designed to be spread out over the course of the school year. Use one printable for each unit or topic that you teach. Each title below relates to one notebook page. Each page is included in both color and black and white versions.
Keep in mind that this notebook is designed with preschool and kindergarten in mind. Therefore, the simplicity of the pages are intentional. There are no flip-flaps or complicated cutting required – I have found these to be too difficult for my preschoolers to handle independently.
The majority of these notebook pages are simple squares and rectangles. If you are using a composition book or similar notebook, you will probably need to use a 2 page spread for most of these pages. If you are using construction paper, you may be able to fit them onto one page.
Most of the pages are simple sorting exercises. Some of the pages are puzzles or have text included that you may have to help your students to decipher which picture needs placed where.
You could very easily adapt these pages for science centers, as well. Simply cut and laminate the sorting cards and place next to baskets for sorting.
