It’s hard to believe, but the first month of 2017 is already coming to a close! That means I need to get my butt in gear if I want to look good on the beach this summer ?
That also means that Valentine’s Day is coming up!
Valentine’s Day is not a huge deal in my house. Actually, hubby and I are pretty crappy about giving gifts for any occasion. We do, however, like to celebrate special days such as this at Red Lobster 🙂 Did you know Red Lobster has a newsletter and you can receive coupons? I signed up last week and got a free dessert coupon that I totally plan to use before Valentine’s Day.
But for the munchkins, whom I’m not taking with me to my Red Lobster dinner date, I made a more appropriate activity in honor of Valentine’s Day.
This activity is super simple. Just cut out the hearts along the lines, laminate if you want to, and then mix them up.
Choose a heart and call out it’s name, and have students find the letter on their paper and color in the heart. You can also use this as a center by letting students pick their own letter from a basket. Both capital and lowercase letters are included in the PDF.
I love quick and easy, low prep, low mess activities that keep the kids engaged but also help them learn to recognize their letters and numbers! So much of our day is spent in play, as it should be, but it’s hard to stay engaged for long on a certain topic. Letter recognition is one of those things that parents look for to tell if their child is learning, and one of the things that a Kindergarten teacher will tell you helps a child stay on track during their first year of school.
This freebie you have to download from my Teachers Pay Teachers Store. I hope you enjoy! Click here or on the photo below to go to the product page.
