An Active Brain Break That Will Help Your Students Focus
Get Rid of Winter Wiggles
Are your kids more wiggly and have a harder time focusing during the winter when they’re cooped up inside? I know mine are! Not to mention the way the holidays and snow affect our school days and everyone forgets the routine for a bit.
Well, here’s a simple way to get some of that excess energy out during the winter months! Or anytime for that matter!
Physical Activity Cards
These physical activity cards are great when you need a brain break. The download includes 40 exercise cards perfect for kids as young as preschool.
Plus, they can all be done in a relatively small area (like your classroom).
Each card has a picture to go with the text, so even non-readers can use these cards independently. Or, you can use them as a large group activity, too.
Sometimes we use all the cards, sometimes just a few.
Even a quick brain break can really make a difference! Just stretching our bodies, getting some exercise, and taking a five or fifteen minute break is an easy way to get a second wind and go back to work.
And, in my experience, kids love a good excuse to be break from the norm of not “being wild” (as I call it) in the classroom! But I love that these cards let the kids do some physical activities that are a little more controlled, so nobody is running rampant or getting hurt.
